About Khaled Hawari
Khaled Hawari is a tax and financial consultant and a senior technical project manager, based in Ottawa, Ontario. He is the founder of Kodelytics Inc. and KNA Group, he took commerce degrees at the University of Ottawa and Carleton University, and he works in English, French and Arabic. Most people call him Kal.
The short version of him is an accountant who moved into technical delivery and then kept both. This page is the long version: the route from a Canada Revenue Agency desk in 2014 to running a consulting practice, a delivery company and a consultancy's client portfolio in 2026, in the order it happened, with the employers, dates, degrees and certifications behind each step.
Finance first
I did not come to technical delivery from engineering. I came to it from the books, and I think that order explains most of how I work.
An accountant is trained to work to a cut-off rather than to a feeling of being finished, to keep evidence for every figure, and to treat "we will fix it later" as a liability with a size rather than a plan. Those are habits, not opinions, and they came with me into project management intact. What surprised me, once I was running software delivery, was how little of the discipline had to be relearned to do it well.
The thing that connects the tax practice, the delivery leadership and the writing is a single instinct, which is to reconcile: make two records agree, make a claim match its evidence, make a sentence say exactly what is true and no more. It is the same move whether I am closing a set of books, signing off a release, or cutting a paragraph until it is honest. I traced where that instinct came from in an essay, so I will not rehearse the argument here.
The writing is the part of the work that answers to no client, and it belongs on this site rather than on either business one. It is where I think in the open about numbers, delivery, and the ground between them, and it is as much a part of what I do as any engagement I take on.
